IS THE CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENT SAFE?
Yes, chiropractic is a natural healing art that is drug-free. It is a safe, gentle, non-invasive treatment. We specialize in neuro-musculoskeletal disorders. Chiropractic relieves pain!
WHAT IS AN ADJUSTMENT?
An adjustment is a hands-on manipulative procedure dealing with the spine and/or extremities. The purpose of the spinal adjustment is to correct alignment, reduce any spinal fixations (areas that don’t move normally), and to allow nerves, muscles, and/or tendons to heal. To perform an adjustment, the chiropractor uses his hands, touching, pressing, and pushing on the spine. It is completely safe! Sometimes, not always, you may hear a “pop” which is a harmless gaseous release from the joint during the procedure.
DO CHIROPRACTORS TREAT CHILDREN?
Yes, we do! We treat and adjust them regularly. We, at Koff Chiropractic, in Manassas, have adjusted newborns through adolescence. Chiropractic is safe, gentle and maintains optimal health. It’s important for children, as they are growing, to be seen by a Chiropractor. Girls, specifically, should be seen prior to puberty, to check for scoliosis as it mainly affects young, developing girls. Dr. Louis Koff performed scoliosis checks for children (fifth grade) in Prince William County elementary schools for many years as a service to his community.
DOES INSURANCE COVERAGE CHIROPRACTIC?
Yes, most health insurance plans, including major medical, worker’s compensation, Medicare, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, civilian and federal employees, Aetna, Cigna, and many others cover chiropractic care. Most do not require referrals, but a select few do. So either check with your insurance carrier, prior to your appointment, or when you call our office, we can determine coverage and your referral requirements, if any, for you.
WHAT HAPPENS ON MY FIRST VISIT?
On the first visit, the patient fills out in-take forms (you may download them prior to your visit via our web-site) that will enable us, to gather information about you, the patient, and you particular injury or problem. The next step is a chiropractic exam with an emphasis on neurology and orthopedic components. At that point, a decision is made whether to X-ray or not; frequently, we do not X-ray. The findings are then discussed with you, our patient, and treatment is begun.
